2017 Selfie preparing for the Everest Base Camp Trek and loving some Tone it Up

Heaven knows ol’ Selfie loves a workout program and for years I was very, very consistent doing Tone It Up which back in the day was YouTube and DVD and digital download-based. It was so fun, exciting and addicting when it was series time! Then one day, it was app-based and that app had no content except for the workouts that used to be free or that I had already purchased. And I was…unhappy to repay $14/mos or whatever for the exact same workouts that were slightly renamed. It was kind of uncool and beyond that, the online and IRL community that made it fun got a little…commercial (buy more to fit in!) and competitive (who can get more likes on IG!). And so I quit the whole shebang because your workout program should not stress you out.

For real though - I sold all the stuff in 2018

For real though - I sold all the stuff in 2018

In the last couple of years though, I’ve tried a ton of programs and besides the Chloe Ting program (damn, CT! what the hey!), I haven’t had consistent success so I’ve stuck to just changing it up. But towards the end of the year, I was ready to get back to work. Plus, Mr. Selfie was gifted The Mirror and has legit done 80 workouts in four week*. Anyways, I missed doing video workouts that I really like. And I really like TIU workouts. And the meal plan. Meal planning is important, y’all. I had Sweetgreen every day last week and now have to take out a loan.

At any rate, I opted to stop being stubborn and finally tried out the TIU app and obviously, there are many, many more workouts which is great. There are also, like the Sweat App, more trainers now - great, I like some of them. Some of them are not my cup o’ tea. No worries. They also have built-in fitness programs (awesome!) and a weekly on-demand schedule. So somethings are similar to Old School TIU which is great and some things are different which is totally fine. Plus, I found a 50% coupon code, so I was sold.

TIU2021

I just finished TIU4You which is a four- week program and I loved the new workouts. It’s the…first time I’ve finished a set workout program in quite some time. That being said, I had to add on quite a few workouts and the programs are way easier than the old series and I’m really ready (I think!) to take on a bigger challenge. And luckily, I have digital download versions of most of the programs from 2014 on…on my phone.** So, I’m taking a bigger challenge to end the TIU2021 Challenge and I’m hoping to find the magic sauce that kept me going (and got me in hella good shape) in years past. I’m posting the weekly schedules here in the hopes that it’s helpful to some OG TIU girls and also, for accountability.

Anyways, what’s everyone up to fitness-wise? I just…didn’t at all buy into NY resolutions this year so I’ve been going for it since December but really haven’t been successful in shaping up. Maybe because…you lose weight via your nutrition. You maintain weight with your workouts. *mimes brain explosion * Idk what I haven’t gotten that in the last year but…what else am I doing? I got time to figure it out. Hope everyone’s 2021 is going alright!

*and his muscles are very muscle-y. It’s cool. I digress.
