Manicure Systems: Rossi v. Dazzle Dry #TIBIQ
You know, this special* time has really given us some time to reflect and have gratitude for the things we have. And the new things we buy to replace the things we used to have. I’m kidding but really, I DID realize how much of my time I spent on personal upkeep and amongst those luxuries was getting my nails done every three weeks because… that’s how they get ya. You can’t take a dip manicure off your damn self so once it’s one…you’re in for life. Or until the world comes to a screeching halt and you just watch as your nails painfully, slowly chip off over six weeks. I mean. There are worse things and now I’m free!!! Free!!! from you, shellac manicure.
I really don’t like painting my nails, especially with normal polish. I don’t like anything about doing my nails except for having them done, actually. But with some extra time on my hands**, and way too much time on IG, I ended up purchasing one of the dip nail systems because…how hard could it possibly be?
Rossi Nails
…SO @#$@#@$# hard. Oh my god. This is…the worst thing I’ve done to my hands. And then…it’s a freaking shellac manicure so these horrible witch fingers were GLUED TO MY SKIN. Lucky for me, a friend at work had gotten some of that gel manicure remover….that mess works. It takes like..9 coats and 90 minutes of your life, but it works.
0/10 do not recommend in the same way I wouldn’t suggest you cut your own hair.
Dazzle Dry
Which leads us here. After my incredible act of hubris in believing I could do my SNS, I realized I was going to have to go old school. And man, I hate old school polish. It’s messy, it takes forever to dry which leads to the inevitable smudge, it smells and it chips in like two seconds. While I haven’t gotten better at polish, I have managed to get a “I am aware I have a job and try to look like it” manicure using dazzle dry. Importantly, it really does all the way set in five minutes. It takes about 20 minutes to do my nails bc it removal takes a hot second but besides that, it’s pretty foolproof, has great colors and lasts at least a week.
Honorable Mention: I really want to try Olive and June - the kits are more affordable than dazzle dry and I love the idea of an ombré nail kit. In fairness, I have enough Dazzle Dry kits that I can kind of get that done but…not really. At some point, I will probably break and try it out. Maybe March.
