“What? Are you a pioneer women now? Is there a shortage of candles in Austin?” Well, no but it’s always fun to try new crafts so when some of my friends heard that a Candle  Bar was opening in the Domain, we signed up!

So, some fun things: The shop is beautiful, the scents are amazing and there’s a bar! But uh, as far as the class itself, *spoiler alert * making candles is extremely straightforward. You stick wicks in the bottom of a container. You mix hot wax with a scent and pour into said container. Boom! Done. Now, I’m sure that when you make candles at home (because we all do that) I’m sure it’s slightly more arduous because Candlebar has hot wax on tap and they also have beautiful vessels to pick from.

Final thoughts: The class is $40 and that feels like a lot. One of my thoughts on that is that you can’t make custom scents at all. So it feels like...you are just making a candle that you could just buy from Candlebar. My friend Renee makes candles and for Christmas she made us all specific scents which was awesome. And I personally live for candles that smell like the sea or sunscreen. Or coconut. Because I’m a basic B. And I while I really like the scent (green fig + bamboo) and  the candle looks beautiful but it doesn’t seem specific to me. *shrugs* It was definitely fun to try though!
