Eyeshadow Palette Reviews #TIBIQ
On this episode of Things I Bought in Quarantine, a SHOCKING REVELATION!!!!!!* I bought *whispers* quite a lot of cosmetics. In fairness to me** , it’s been five months so I’ve actually kept it slightly together. I also, and let me use the beauty youtuber term here, de-cluttered palettes that I hate*** when I received the new ones so it’s not just straight hoarding. I mean, its not that far from it but I’M TRYING:
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk
I’ve coveted this collection, this lipstick and ESPECIALLY this rose gold eyeshadow cream for a long time. But every time I looked at the price, I said to myself, “Kyle^. It can NOT be worth it.” But like…the first day of lockdown when the shit was REAL REAL, click click click into the basket it went and here we are. Kyle, I was right. It looks beautiful online. It looks beautiful in the packaging. It’s boring. That’s it. I don’t even use it for the toned-down office makeup. Actually, the liner and lipstick are beautiful and I DO use it for that but otherwise, no.
If you like your expensive-for-no reason-bland, luxury makeup, have at.
Juvia’s Place The Saharan
Juvia’s Place gets me…OFTEN. They have a lot of ridiculous sales. To the point where you can get three palettes for like $20 with shipping. “Oh, well. Is it kind of crappy NYX quality or?” Damn it, Kyle! NO!
Juvia’s Place is the actual bomb. The pigmentation puts other companies to SHAME! I have their gel liner too which is bomb but I’m ride or dye for these palettes. Are you a color payoff girl? Juvia’s. A packaging junkie? Juvia’s. A price point realist? Juvia’s. Hate online shopping^^? Oh, snap. Get your Juvia’s curbside to go at Ulta, ya French courtesan.^^^
I’m super psyched they are getting the love and recognition as people have been promoting BIPOC-owned companies. My SIL told me about JP a few years ago and she gets all the shout-outs for that.
Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde
When this palette came out, I was like Snooze! Pastels. Boo. Boring. But as we all know, as I sit here in my pastel tie-dye sweatshirt in my pastel green hair, pastels are THE color of the pandemic. When we look back on 2020, I will get war flashbacks every time I see mint green but for rn, it brings me real joy. And then, Sephora had a sale on sale and then, lol, started letting us turn in our useless point for $10 off. Mistake! I also uncovered a great loop hole wherein there’s no free shipping minimum for Rouge members so while you can only get one $10 code per order, you can just do multiple small orders *taps forehead *Not just a hatrack, y’all.
It’s not a secret I love Huda but again, there are so many products at a better price point with the same or better payoff. Huda continues to be the packaging queen. It’s stupid how beautiful this palette is. The color story is amazing. The textures are absolutely fantastic. The metallics are the real heroes of this palette for sure. They are stunning. However, I would not have paid full price for this. I’m glad I own it but would not have spent $60 on this.
ABH Norvina Mini Vol. 3
ABH, as a company, is why I straight burned out on the whole beauty industry and did a no-buy that lasted for months. And actually, I hadn’t bought a palette since October before the Charlotte Tilbury purchase because I was just over it. Anastasia Beverly Hills was a cool, insta-famous brand before it was cool. But last year they did three at a time releases under Norvina, in addition, to release after release under ABH. And all these companies followed suit, and it just…lost its luster. A human can only enjoy so many eyeshadow palettes. We don’t have to drown in a sea of consumerism#. Anyways, with the aforementioned Sephora system, I bought this palette for $4. It’s pretty. The color payoff is legit and it’s a nice compliment to the Huda palette. Would you ever need this and say the Amrezie palette? No. Is it better than Urban Decay? Obviously, because that’s literal trash.
Special Shout-Out
Idk how I’ve never talked about this but the BEST palette I’ve bought in the last year is the Tati Beauty Neutrals Vol. 1 palette, hands-down. “I thought you hated “bland” makeup”. Shut up, Kyle! But in actuality, I love EVERYTHING about this palette. It’s so beautiful, it’s so blendable, pigmented and the glitters??? The bast I’ve ever seen or used in my life. 10/10 CHEF’s KISS. And just imagine what she could do with a full color palette? The mind reels.
That’s it. That’s the post.
Any cool makeup purchases lately? Did I slam your favs?## Lmk below!
